First, I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year and wish you all the best in the days to come and thank you to those that have taken the time to encourage me when it comes to this blog – it is greatly appreciated.
I for one, am glad to see 2016 be officially written into the history books. This past year has been tough one for both myself and the family and it’s impacted just about every facet of our lives. We’ve had members of our family pass away, surgeries and the associated recovery times, ups and downs with both my work and Lodge, and I’m coming to grips with a couple of personal health issues (nothing life threatening but life altering). So yes, 2016, good-bye, I can’t say it’s been real fun but it has been a growing exercise.
This year looks to be just as interesting as last year but hopefully not as challenging.
On the Lodge front
I’m due to be installed a week from now as Secretary. It’s a position I held in the past and as any Past Secretary will tell you, we never truly leave the office. I’ve been filling in for the last few months but with the installation it’ll be official. There are a number of things that I feel need updating as technology has continued to move forward and the office hasn’t quite kept pace, and I’ve already started to make my “project list,” at least in my head (not a good place for it) and will be looking forward to working with the other officers and members on them.
On the blog front
I’m hoping to post just a bit more frequently. As I mentioned above life offline took a number of unexpected turns on me this year and it impacted my writing. I’ve been doing a bit of personal reflection and review and think I’ve found some items I need to adjust which I hope will get things back on track. I’m not making any promises on the number of posts, but you should be seeing them more regularly.
On social media
I’m still on social media and while I my posting here slowed down I continued to maintain my various social media accounts. I don’t see much change there other than maybe a few more posts and an effort to share more of what I find interesting on the web. Be sure to follow me on any or all of the platforms I’m on:

On the personal front
While I’m not going to share a lot about my own personal goals for the upcoming year I will say the that emphasis is going to be on improving my lifestyle to something a bit more healthy. It’s not just about my physical health but also my emotional and spiritual aspects as well. I hope to improve as a husband, father, and mentor and to listen more than I speak.
Good day 2017, the earth says hello.
