There’s an old saying, “patience is a virtue,” unfortunately so few practice it.
Whether you’re writing, like here on this blog, trying to learn something, or memorize something, doing just a little bit every day will get you to where you want to be. It just takes TIME.
That’s the real issue, we don’t want to wait, we want it now.
Let’s use writing for an example, you want to write a book. For most, that means sitting down at the computer, staring at a blank screen, and thinking about all the work that’s going to go into writing that book. It’s a monumental task, you might think. So you find something else to do, you get distracted, and then are forever kicking yourself for not writing that book.
However, if you make peace with the fact that writing a book will take time you can set some realistic small goals and accomplish the feat.
A little every day for the book project might be one page a day. That’s not a lot when you initially think about it, however, at the end of the year you’ll have 365 pages, which is the length of a book.
All it took was a bit of patience and the understanding that you can chip away at anything in small pieces to get the job done.
So the next time you start to look at a new project, break it down into little bite-sized pieces and understand that it’s just going to take a little time.
