The Journey Begins – Day 0
The Internet is full of stories about kids who create million-dollar companies in a weekend, and people who learn to program in two weeks and land six-figure jobs with unlimited snacks. You can find them all over YouTube, Substack, and LinkedIn.
This blog is not that.
It’s not a 12-step roadmap, it’s not a portfolio flex, and it’s not designed to sell you anything. There will be no social media announcements, and no self-aggrandizing posts asking for engagement. If you found this, you found it on your own.
Here is where my head is at on Day 0: I’ve been in tech for over two decades of experience focusing on IT systems, and I am sick of the performative polish required by the modern tech world. Somewhere along the line, the act of learning got swallowed by the act of showing people you are learning. We spend more time editing the story than doing the actual work.
I’m drawing a line in the sand. I am resetting this domain, turning off the noise, and documenting the actual, unvarnished process of learning to write code from the ground up. That means writing about the walls I hit, the hours lost to missing syntax, the tangents, the frustration, and the days where nothing works.
I’m Gen X. We do the work, we figure it out, and we don’t need a crowd cheering us on to prove it happened.
Day 0 is done. Tomorrow I open the editor.
